A 33,ooo litre capacity tanker fully loaded fell today at the Ugwu Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway around 11:00am.
Eye witness reports have it that the tanker lost balance while trying to manouver it's way through the dangerous potholes infested highway.
Luckily, there was no fire outbreak from the incident and no life was reports lost.
A statement purported to have come from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) reads in part:

"...The Enugu State Fire Service was contacted and the fire fighting body led by its Chief Fire Officer, Okwudili Oha, immediately moved to the scene and are currently dampening the truck to avert explosion.

Arrangements are being made to trans-load the product.

Road users are advised to exercise caution while plying the road.

Mrs. Nkechi Eneh
Executive Secretary,
Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)."

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, another eye witness expressed great satisfaction with the prompt response and arrival of the men of the Enugu State fire service who continued to dampen the fallen truck to avoid any explosion and the product was successfully transfered into another tanker and successfully evacuated from the scene.
As at the time of this report, the tanker has not been towed off the road.
