The Church banned Singing of Praise and Worship songs during mass (Church service) and preaching the gospel effectively outside the homily...Here is what was read to us last Sunday during the Church Announcement....

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria, after its second plenary meeting held in Akure from 8th to 16th September 2016, issued a communiqué which strongly condemned and prohibited liturgical aberrations defacing Catholic worship in Nigeria. Our Diocesan Curia, on 29th September 2016 highlighted and expanded these aberrations, and made the following standing regulations for Enugu Diocese:
1. No normal Eucharistic celebration (mass) SHALL LAST MORE THAN 2 HOURS; event Masses, such as Merit-Award, Harvest Thanksgiving etc.., shall not last more than 3 hours.

2. Every exercise and fundraising in the church, like Cathedraticum, Project Sunday, Harvest Thanksgiving, Merit-Award, Launching, etc., must take place after post communion prayer.

3. There shall be only one Project Sunday in the month and one launching in a year for each parish/chaplaincy.

4. THERE SHALL BE NO SINGING OF ANY SORT between the Gospel and the homily or sermon. Thus after the Gospel, the homily follows immediately.

5. SILENCE AND DECORUM SHOULD BE MAINTAINED AT LITURGICAL CELEBRATIONS, THEREFORE, NON LITURGICAL MUSIC AND EXCESSIVE DANCING STANDS CONDEMNED AND PROHIBITED.
